Last night was a fun night. We went to Todd's (big surprise, eh ?) for karaoke. It was great to see the 'gang' there. Jess was there. Cynthia showed up, even tho she wasn't feeling well. Tommy Lee was there when we got there with a date, Monica. Nice to meet Monica. Mary and John came in and hung with us. The place was not very full when we got there but filled up quickly.
Of course, the highlight of the night was when Russ came to join us. Russ is one of those straight shooting, good ole boy, kinda guys. He is a jock, in as much as he used to play football, but he is much more. We met Russ when he was bouncing at the 11th Frame lounge. His sense of humor and all around personality attracted us. He was fun to be with. We invited Russ to join us at a bar to watch some UK football when we first got to know him. He came and has been a friend since. That was several years ago. He was in our wedding. Needless to say, it is always a good thing to see Russ. Here's a shout out to ya, Russ. We love ya, dude.
Russ and I had a lotta fun last night 'tormenting' Tommy Lee. Now, Tommy Lee was trying to impress Monica, this being a first date and all. So, we told her about all of us being cellmates at LaGrange prison. We informed her about Tommy's small member. At one point, Tommy was singing, we tried to talk her into flashing him. She declined because of the number of people in the bar. She did go up and get behind him and grope him a bit, causing Tommy to stutter in the song. We did, eventually, tell her that Tommy was a nice guy, and though she could probably do better, she wouldn't find anyone better there at the bar. What are friends for ?
We decided to call it an evening around 11:30 and made our way through the police all over town and came home. The house was still standing. We consider that a good thing.
Tammy was disappointed that I wasn't a bit hungry, as she was jonesing for the coconut creme pie that we picked up earlier. It was baked by a 91 year old Christian widow. Her pies are legendary. Many many many moons ago, I dated her granddaughter. When she (the granny) and her husband lived in Paris, I would go get them and bring them to Lexington for church, when they were not feeling up to driving. He passed several years ago. She only quit driving a couple years ago. She is a pretty awesome lady and a good friend. We might crack open that pie today.
Three of my four grandkids are coming sometime today and spending the night. They will be going to church with us in the morning and then we will take them home. All I can say about that is, "What was I thinking?" Just kidding, maybe.
Anyway, I'll be back later to fill ya in on the details and maybe post a picture of the fun.
